I trust everyone had a nice holiday and that you are all looking forward to the New Decade! Just wanted to get everyone caught up with the state of the Missouri Aviation Historical Society. As some of you are aware, 2019 was a trying year for our Society with several of our key volunteers experiencing health issues and of course mother nature did not help with the extended high waters affecting both KSET and 1H0 airfields. I for one am looking forward to 2020 and have been researching a new venue as our continued growth has put us close to gross on a couple occasions at Creve Coeur. (Sorry Albert!)
I would like to discuss this and our current and planned projects at our January meeting which will be held at Creve Coeur airport 14301 Creve Coeur Airport Rd. 63146 on Sunday Jan 19, 2020 at 2 pm. Light refreshments will be available, but plan to come early at noon and do some hangar flying at the airport lunch. The cost is around $7.00 and you can’t beat the BBQ and fixins! I am sure many of you are wondering about our annual “KICK OFF” meeting and the truth is that we will be developing this into an all-day event or similar going forward. With nearly twenty organizations presenting at last year’s event, it quickly became evident that two hours was not nearly enough time to incorporate the ppts and give time for Q&A.
The MOAHS has continued to grow in 2019 with nine new members joining our Society! Due to the fact that we did have to cancel several meetings and our annual picnic this year, I am waiving the membership fees for existing members for CY 2020, it is the least we can do to make up for the lost time. Thanks to everyone for all your support and assistance to our Society, we could not do it without you. I wish all of you a blessed and Happy New Year!
Very Respectfully,
Dan O’Hara, President
